Dear Families,
I am so proud of your children for working so hard during their first week of distance learning. I have loved hearing from many of them through Google Classroom. I truly appreciate all of your support thus far.
Moving forward, I think it would be beneficial to streamline the platform where students can find their social studies lessons and assignments. Initially, I planned to continue using my class website. I felt it was an easy and straightforward way to organize information. Yet, considering that we will be out for an extended period of time, I think Google Classroom is a better choice.
So, starting this week I will post a weekly video in Google Classroom, in order to provide an overview of the week’s lessons and assignments. The assignments themselves will be linked under the Classwork tab. Please remind your children to click TURN IN when they are finished with an assignment. This allows me to grade their work, as well as provide valuable feedback.
I sincerely hope that you and your loved ones are still safe and well. As always, please feel free to email me with any questions or concerns.
Warmly,
Jill Bongiorno

Dear Families,
I hope you are all healthy, safe and in good spirits. I miss my 8th Graders very much and hope to see them back in school soon. Earlier today I sent a parent email through eSchool. I received a notice that several email addresses are not current. Please logon to eSchool and update your contact preferences. My note included the following information:
Sachem’s distance learning begins on Monday, March 30th. Each week our social studies lesson schedule will be posted here on our class website. Here you will find a day-by-day list of activities, including PowerPoints and notes sheets, as well as any necessary resources and instructions.
Additional assignments will be posted on our Google Classroom. We have been working in school with Google Classroom for several months now, so it should be familiar to your children. Here I will post a weekly video message, explaining the work for the week. In fact, it is here on our Google Classroom that I have been checking in on the students over the past couple of weeks. I have loved hearing from each and every one who has responded. Furthermore, students are aware that they can message me through Google Classroom with any curriculum questions that they may have.
Please feel free to email me at [email protected] with any questions or concerns. Distance learning is new for all of us, but we are all in this together. Thank you for your continued support.
Warmly,
Ms. Bongiorno
